Welcome from STSS
Who are we?
Suryoye Theological Seminary Salzburg (STSS) is a non-profit association set up to support and finance Beth Suryoye student house. Established in 2013 by members of the Syrian Orthodox Church, STSS aims to give every student interested in Syriac Christianity the opportunity to study.
In support of STSS, local committees have been set up in Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden and further groups are being established. So far students from 17 different countries and 9 different denominations have lived and studied in Beth Suryoye.
What do we do?
Being aware of Syriac Christianity’s rich cultural heritage and the precarious situation in its homelands and diaspora, STSS is committed to promoting the Syriac tradition, in giving everyone who would like the opportunity to learn the Syriac language, history, liturgy and theology.
STSS is taking an active part in developing the tradition, responding to current challenges and contributing to today’s society on an academic, spiritual or pastoral level.

Our History
2011

2012

Since 2015 they have enabled 29 students to study in Salzburg and have secured the financing of the operating costs for Beth Suryoye.
2015

Thank you to our Sponsors!
Thank you to all our supporters – amongst them parishes and individuals in Germany, the Netherlands and the USA. Financing Beth Suryoye student house and individual students would not be possible without your help.
We are entirely dependent on donations. Beth Suryoye house is unique in giving students the chance to study at university whilst at the same time live what they are learning in a perfect combination/putting theory into practice. Studying classical Syriac by day and attending prayers, the liturgy, and experiencing Syriac theology practically at first hand.
By donating...
With your financial support you are helping students prepare themselves for the future work within the Syriac tradition. Some of them will become priests, others scholars, teachers, pastoral workers or monks.
The church needs educated teachers, lay people, scholars and priests to understand the Syriac heritage, act in the present and help form the future.
By supporting STSS you are contributing to the future development of Syriac Christianity.
